A better world

Imagen
In this blog I come to comment, how what I study that Social Work is, can make the world a better place. My specialty is focused on intervening and transforming territories that present a lot of social inequality. That they would be families with economic difficulties, overcrowding, difficulties in equal opportunities, lack of access to education, decent work, etc. Also, it worries about people who do not present a home as such, and who have to spend part of their childhood or old age, in social organizations. I think that after explaining what my career is about, briefly, that the contribution he makes to society and the world is huge. It is the only career that provides protection to other people, who thinks about helping third parties and not individually. It is responsible for helping people who are being excluded from society, although the government and the state try to help their country, however, it does not cover all the needs. In this study process that I am in, I feel that e...

Subject that I like to study.

Imagen
One topic that I like to study a lot is about human psychology. I remember that in my first year of university, I had a branch of psychology, in my career of Social Work. I remember that in that class, we saw child psychology, and how the education of parents and school influence the future behaviors that these children will have. During that course, they made us read different texts by different authors, who are twentieth-century psychologists and professionals. His texts of him and them studies of him are related to the subject of child psychology. Some focus on newborns, others only the first 3 years of life, and others from 5 years to 8. Also, there are authors who study puberty and adolescence in these children. I enjoy this topic a lot, because I consider it important that as a future Social Work professional, I manage to differentiate and perceive the different behaviors that children and adults can have, with their social environment. To be able to understand what were the even...

The person I admire

Imagen
Hello everyone. Today I will tell you about an expert whom I admire a lot, which is Professor Teresa Matus, who is an academic with a degree in Social Work from the University of Chile. She has different academic positions and articles related to the career of Social Work. I began to admire this person, in my first year of university, the year 2019 at the Santo Tomas University. When I was given academic articles by her on a critique of the social work perspective. Then, in later years, they made me read more of her articles explaining her critique of modern perspectives on social work. My admiration for her comes from the way she observes and criticizes the world, her vision of modern social work, and why it is necessary to reorganize this way of intervening. In a way, I share ideas with her. Her contribution on the professional side is very broad. It is not specified how many writings she has, but she has a lot of written texts. On a professional level, its various articles and texts...

A Photo and its Story

Imagen
Hi everyone. The truth is that I do not have a photo that I like very much. But yes, I have this photo below, which was taken by me, on April 3, 2016. At the Coldplay band concert. Photo taken by me The special thing about this photo is that it was one of the first concerts that were held in the world (I think) with the xylobands. Which are some bracelets with led lights, which turn on automatically depending on the song. For me that concert meant a lot, since my family does not have a lot of money, but since most of my family is a fan of this band, we saved a lot of time, to be able to buy tickets. And these bracelets, it was a very nice and significant gesture from the members of the band. I find this photograph very interesting, since it was very nice to observe how the entire National Stadium was illuminated with white and blue lights, with the song A sky full of stars. It was super cool to watch that light show. Besides enjoying every song that band played that day. The story behi...

My food that I really like

Imagen
My favorite food is pasta, because it can be cooked and eaten in different ways. Since I was little, I have liked pasta.    It is a dough that is made with different foods, and that can be produced and sold in different ways. It is made by mixing semolina, water, salt, among others. I like it a lot, since it has different preparations, like mixing it with different types of sauce (pesto, white, etc). Cook with different ingredients like vegetables, vegan protein, with cheese. And also, eat the noodles in different ways, as in lasagna, as an omelette, etc.  I am aware that eating a lot of pasta during the week is bad for your health. Well, everything in excess is bad. So I try to eat noodles once or twice a week. And I eat it in a variety of ways, sometimes with pesto sauce, with ground vegan meat, in lasagna, with vegetables, etc

My favorite Piece of technology

Imagen
My favorite piece of technology is, commonly, the cell phone. I like it not only because I can chat with my friends, but because I can listen to my favorite music. I use it every day to do these two things, and I also use it as a work tool for my university. I use it frequently, but sometimes I still prefer to avoid it since it is a distract to doing other things that I like. I like it because with it I can quickly find out when I don't know of new information. And then I tell my friends what I know. Honestly, my life would change if I didn't have it, but it wouldn't affect me, since the cell phone is not everything. I will be able to see my friends more frequently, find out about books and listen to music from other

Why did you choose this career/study program?

Imagen
When I was little, I would have liked to study psychiatry, but I didn't want to study medicine. It was only in 2017 that I decided on a career in social work. It was the only option that I had and that I really wanted. Already in 2019, I did the PSU, and stayed at the Santo Tomas University, in the Social Work career. Well, there I was around 2 years studying. My final decision regarding my future was in 2020, when I wanted to change to the University of Chile. My experience so far at the University of Chile has been great, since I have learned about different subjects, ideologies and knowledge. The only thing I find discouraging are the virtual classes and the pandemic. When I have my professional degree, I would like to make innovations in the theory and practice of Social Work, and also have informative articles.
